Between 2013 and 2022 Peter worked in a variety of China-focused research positions in the Washington, D.C. area including as editor of China Brief at the Jamestown Foundation and as a defense contractor. In these roles he was the lead or contributing author of over one hundred articles and multiple reports and monographs on China and security issues in Asia.
